What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Director position at Victory Programs?

The Clinical Director of the Prevention Division is responsible for ensuring the highest quality clinical support services for individuals participating in our programs. The Clinical Director provides clinical leadership, supervision and education to the direct care staff of the Prevention Division, including specialized mental health/substance use/prevention education, and coordination of clinical support services. The Clinical Director reports to the Director of Victory Prevention.


The Prevention Division works to improve health outcomes, reduce mortality and enhance overall quality of life for individuals impacted by substance use and infectious diseases by seamlessly connecting clients to resources and knowledge through navigation, outreach, and education. We serve individuals impacted by substance use, chronic disease and homelessness in the Boston area.


Essential Functions:

  • Uphold Victory Programs, Inc.’s Standards of Excellence by demonstrating professional ethics, maintaining appropriate boundaries, and ensuring client confidentiality at all times.
  • Support direct service staff to assist members/clients in accessing essential support services, as well as adhering to medical treatments, improving the stability of their substance use disorder recovery, improving their physical and mental health, and stabilizing those in crisis.
  • Improve staff competencies in serving the medical, stabilization, social and mental health needs of clients.
  • Support the development of case management and stabilization plans for members and clients receiving services.
  • Conduct emergency mental health/substance abuse assessments and provide crisis intervention services to identified members and clients.
  • Oversee development and implementation of crisis intervention and de-escalation protocol for Division of Prevention clients in crisis.
  • Create clinical learning spaces and training for staff.
  • Provide ongoing training for staff on comprehensive documentation and electronic records.
  • Provide onboarding for new staff in the use of electronic health records, documentation procedures and standards.
  • Perform regular audits of electronic health records to ensure quality and to identify ongoing training needs.
  • Provide emergency and non-emergency clinical consultation to program staff in person and via phone.
  • Work with program clinical staff to provide consultation on complex cases, and provide guidance on referrals, care plans and staff coordination.
  • Provide clinical group supervision to staff teams within the Prevention Division.
  • Provide ongoing one-to-one clinical supervision for staff as needed on a scheduled and drop-in basis.
  • Provide individual and/or group clinical supervision to additional identified agency staff, when needed.
  • Supervise interns, and assist in the coordination of the agency clinical internship program.
  • Provide clinical supervision for social workers in process for licensure.
  • Assist with the preparation of any reports or proposals necessary for program operations as assigned.
  • Monitor needs of the program target populations and recommend revisions of existing service models as indicated.
  • Oversee development and evaluation of group work through the division.
  • Review curriculums used and groups for efficacy and quality.
  • Maintain efficient and inclusive record-keeping systems that support diverse client experiences, using practices that are equitable, culturally sensitive, and adaptable to various client backgrounds.
  • Oversee and support facilitation of monthly case conferencing and care consultation in the Prevention programs.
  • Leverage diverse social work theory and practice models to inform program development and implementation, staff development and community engagement as part of the Division of Prevention leadership team
  • Attend weekly administrative supervision, fostering an environment of open dialogue and shared learning.
  • Complete all necessary requirements to maintain clinical license in good standing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Masters level clinician with a degree in Social Work, LICSW required.
  • A Minimum of 5 years of experience working with clients in priority populations, including substance use disorder, mental health, homeless families and/or HIV/AIDS.
  • At least 3 years’ experience providing individual and/or group clinical supervision to interdisciplinary teams of staff.
  • Demonstrated competence in care coordination and networking with human service/health care providers.
  • Strong organizational, managerial and supervisory experience.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Must be CPR certified (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Completed TB screening (may be obtained upon hire)
  • Three work related professional references; at least 2 from manager or supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with various models of group work, group formation and facilitation.
  • Understanding and experience in using adult learning theory in program development and training.

Position Type: Full Time (40 hours) Exempt. On site.

Rate: $91,920 Annually

Victory Programs offers a generous paid time off package to all employees including vacation, sick, and personal time as well as holidays. Upon hire, all staff are entitled to up to: 4 personal days, 160 sick hours, 10 holidays and 3 1/2 weeks of vacation. These figures adjust based on full time or part time status and allocated vacation time increases with length of employment.
