Job Summary: Victory Truck Body Inc. (formerly Demountable Concepts, Inc.) is looking for a visionary and strategic Director of Engineering to lead and grow our engineering team and oversee the development, procurement and manufacture of innovative and high-quality products. The Director of Engineering will report to the President and work closely with the other leaders of the company to align the engineering vision with the business goals and customer needs. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation within the engineering team and across the organization.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring all operations within the department, hiring and training new team members, implementing engineering practices and goals, and planning and coordinating engineering projects. You will set departmental objectives, requirements, and time frames and research innovative technologies for improving the team’s performance. This position requires robust management skills, technical expertise, and visionary instincts to boost engineering tasks to the next level.

- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time, in-person with no remote option)
- Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000 annually, negotiable based on experience

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap for multiple product lines, ensuring alignment with the company vision and objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the current and growing engineering team, providing clear direction, feedback, and career growth opportunities.
- Oversee the writing and updating of the documentation and instructions for the manufacturing processes, including the materials, equipment, and specifications needed for each product.
- Establish and maintain high standards of engineering quality, performance, and reliability, implementing best practices and processes.
- Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and manufacturing teams to understand customer requirements, deliver product features, and resolve issues.
- Work with the Vice President of Manufacturing to review current processes and look for ways to improve manufacturing efficiency, ensuring they are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with safety and quality standards.
- Prioritize R&D Projects; Oversee the design and development of new products and enhancements, ensuring they meet the specifications, functionality, and manufacturability criteria.
- Manage the engineering budget, resources, and timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can improve engineering and manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Represent the engineering team and communicate the engineering vision and status to internal and external stakeholders, including the leadership team and customers.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Engineering degree required, preferably in mechanical, electrical, or software engineering.
- 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams and delivering successful products, preferably in the fabricated metal / welding space or the truck body / trucking industry.
- Strong technical background and expertise in 3D CAD software and project management.
- Experience in metal fabrication and welding processes is considered a plus.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
- Entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias towards action and innovation.
- Passionate about customer satisfaction and product quality.
- Advanced use of Microsoft Excel (make calculations, organize data, etc), Outlook, and Word.
- Salesforce experience is considered a plus.
- ERP experience, preferably Rootstock, is considered a plus.
