Our client is a small, independent trust business seeking a Trust Counsel to provide in-house legal support. This role ensures fiduciary responsibilities are met with professionalism and diligence. Key duties include reviewing and drafting trust agreements, advising internal teams on legal matters, and collaborating with trust administrators to oversee trust administration.
Education & Experience:
- JD from an accredited law school; LLM in Taxation preferred.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any state or Washington, D.C.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with clients’ attorneys and advisors to draft and review trust agreements and related legal documents.
- Assess trust agreements, partnership agreements, and LLC operating agreements for compliance.
- Draft documents for trust administration, including releases and summaries.
- Review distribution requests, capital calls, and trust transactions to ensure informed decision-making.
- Oversee legal documents requiring company approval.
- Assist in legal matters, including litigation.
- Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Provide legal guidance to internal teams, including Trust Administration, Tax, and Business Development.
- Perform other duties as needed.
