Job Description

This position serves as the technical exception specialist and sole resource supporting the Executive Technical Review Board (E/TRB). The E/TRB is responsible for the oversight and administration of the enterprise-wide technical exception review and approval process. Requests for exception occur when a technical solution fails to meet the department’s technical policy, standards, and/or procedure. This position will be responsible for the review and oversight of all technical exceptions formally requested through the departments Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) tool. As the E/TRB specialist this position will maintain and update the E/TRB Governance Charter, perform data analysis to identify potential risks and minimize exposure to security vulnerabilities and noncompliance, evaluate and propose alternative solutions to enhance risk mitigation, assess exception justifications to ensure request completeness and alignment with organizational standards and objectives, maintain the centralized technical exception database to ensure accurate reporting and submission compliance, facilitate and present all technical exception requests to the board for approval.


  • The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.


Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.


Experience
Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications

Equivalent combinations of nonprofessional experience, identified by the appointing authority and approved by Civil Service that are represented by subclass codes, will be accepted for classified, professional experience equivalent to the P11-level and above. The nonprofessional experience must be related to departmental programs and services that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.

Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
