HOURLY RATE: $32.28
POSITION SUMMARY:
Shipping and Receiving of all materials related to ship repair and the shipyards. Monitor and record all material movements and change of custody. Deliver materials to various locations and vessels in the yard and at times out of the yard.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
(This list is not intended to detail all aspects of the assigned work but is representative of the job’s overall responsibilities.) Employee will be required to work in Shipping/Receiving and also in the Stores Warehouse/Tool Room. Must be able to work all shifts as needed. Other duties may be assigned. Employee must be an energetic self-starter that successfully performs work as an individual and as a member of a team. Performs work with minimal supervision, has a sharp attention to detail and can work in an intense, fast paced work environment.
  • Load and unload supplies to and from trucks, carts, pallets, and storage shelves.
  • Distribute materials to specific craft, vessels, or area of shipyard where needed.
  • Properly package, shrink-wrap, and band freight onto crates, pallets, and cartons.
  • Following detailed instructions, ship materials and equipment in the most efficient, cost-effective way.
  • Stack materials on and off pallets and shelves.
  • Ability to collect, review, and verify all shipping and receiving documentation for contractor furnished materials (CFM), government furnished materials (GFM), owner furnished materials (OFM), and subcontractor materials.
  • Ability/knowledge to inspect shipment for damage.
  • Ability to verify quantities and descriptions of materials and P.O. #’s compared to packing lists.
  • Ability to accurately enter receiving details into the database and correct inaccurate information already in there.
  • Report and resolve discrepancies to and for all customers.
  • Knowledge of documentation and storage for all customers and subcontractors.
  • Accurately and legibly complete various documents and forms as required by Vigor, its customers and various government entities.
  • Work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Incumbent performs work in all areas of the Yard as the need arises.
  • Incumbent may be required to work at heights.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Forklift Certification
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Math skills
  • Computer skills
  • Basic Rigging Knowledge
  • Class B or better CDL a plus.
  • Qualifications to acquire a TWIC card.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Works indoors and outdoors: Frequently works indoors exposed to temperature variances, vibrations, humidity, chemicals, dust and noise.
  • Safety equipment required: long pants, long/short sleeved shirt, eye protection, hearing protection, hard hat, and leather shoes.
  • Other Exposures: Smoke, acids, degreasing cleaners, fumes, free silica, asbestos, dust, weld flash, paints, solvents, oil and grease.
  • Operation of equipment/tools/vehicles: Uses grinders, hand/power tools, welding machines, hammer, wedges, cut-off, SkilSaw, complete range of hand tools and banding tools.
  • Required hygiene standards: Per company standards.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years relevant work experience, preferably in marine area.
  • Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
