What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Coordinator position at Villa de Vida, Inc.?
Activities Coordinator – Looking for an enthusiastic and creative recreational therapist that creates, develops, plans, and organizes recreational, social and enrichment events and opportunities for developmentally disabled participants. Actively works to properly account/budget for all activities and social events. Researches participants’ interests, capacities, and growth areas for new activities; works at least one Saturday and one Sunday per month and classes that end around 5pm twice weekly. Grant writing experience is a bonus. Any Social work or service experience is also highly valuable.
Creates a monthly calendar – signs participants up for bi-weekly activities – taking into consideration their budgets; outlines and appoints sub contract staff for activities.
- Maintain regular contact with the City of Poway Community Services
- Prepare class ideas, summaries, times, dates, and locations in accordance with their class schedule.
- Responsible for finding teachers and signing subcontractor agreements.
- Notify Social Club with an email providing information on how to enroll, and any changes that happen.
- Attend each class, assist the instructor if needed, build rapport with social club members, and make sure everyone stays present and accounted for.
- Compile an attendance sheet and monitor check ins at every class
- Follow up with people that do not attend, to make sure everything is alright and see what could be improved.
