Position Summary
The Director of Operations will provide strategic leadership and oversight of all operational aspects of Villa Roma Resort & Conference Center, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maximizing efficiency and profitability. This role reports directly to the General Manager and serves as a key member of the executive leadership team.
This role requires a dynamic leader who can balance operational excellence with financial performance while maintaining Villa Roma's commitment to exceptional guest experiences and community involvement. The ideal candidate will embrace Villa Roma's values and mission while driving continuous improvement across all operational areas.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Direct and coordinate all resort operations including rooms division, food & beverage, maintenance, housekeeping, recreation, and guest services departments
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that align with Villa Roma's mission of being "the place to stay" for family fun, superior weddings, and group experiences
- Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics, creating action plans to address areas needing improvement
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and security regulations while maintaining the resort's high standards
- Lead emergency response protocols and crisis management procedures
Financial Management
- Prepare and manage operational budgets across all departments
- Analyze financial data and key performance indicators to drive revenue growth and cost control measures
- Develop pricing strategies in coordination with revenue management team
- Oversee purchasing, inventory control, and vendor relationships
Leadership
- Provide mentorship and guidance to department heads and managers
- Foster a culture of exceptional service delivery aligned with Villa Roma's Six Points of Service Excellence
- Conduct regular departmental meetings to ensure effective communication and alignment of objectives
- Participate in recruitment, training, and development of key personnel
- Support the implementation of employee engagement and retention initiatives
Guest Experience
- Ensure consistent delivery of superior guest service across all touchpoints
- Resolve complex guest issues and maintain positive guest relations
- Analyze guest feedback and implement improvements based on trends
- Drive initiatives to enhance the overall guest experience
Strategic Planning
- Collaborate with executive team on long-term strategic planning
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and innovation
- Lead major capital improvement projects and renovations
- Develop and implement revenue-generating initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration or related field
- Minimum 10 years of progressive hospitality management experience with at least 5 years in senior operations role
- Proven track record of successfully managing resort or large-scale hotel operations
- Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and P&L management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with property management systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in related field
- Experience with resort properties in the Northeast market
- Knowledge of union environments
- Multi-property management experience
- Crisis management and emergency response training
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the resort property
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
