The Village of Great Neck Plaza is seeking a full-time administrative assistant to serve the office of the Mayor. Candidates should have experience working in a fast-paced, stimulating setting that entails working with numerous arenas of community-life, and the running of day-to-day operations of a local government. Candidates should be the self-motivating type, capable of fulfilling multiple tasks at one time, but also able to prioritize projects and tasks that are time-sensitive. Candidates should be able to demonstrate superb computer skills and be able to communicate distinctly verbally and in written correspondence. Being able to handle sensitive and confidential issues is a must. A college degree is preferred. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and their resume.
Responsibilities:
- Draft press releases and correspondence for local media.
- Manage constituent relations by addressing inquiries and complaints from the residents and public.
- Create content for the Village’s monthly online e-newsletter and manage the Village’s email notifications via Constant Contact.
- Assist the Mayor with the implementation of the Village’s agenda and day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate with department supervisors and staff.
- Create promotional materials for business community members and residents.
- Oversee the Village’s Annual Summer Concert Series, including the booking of 10 to 12 acts and fundraising to local businesses to defray costs of the event.
- Organize Village ribbon cuttings for new retail store openings.
- Interact with County, State and Federal officials and their staffs with respect to Village matters.
- Assist the Mayor with special projects and initiatives, as needed.
Must Have Skills:
- Experience with computer and software applications; Microsoft Publisher, Excel, Access and Outlook).
- Experience sending email blasts using Constant Contact.
- Ability to prioritize and to handle multiple projects and tasks.
- College degree preferred.

Position is Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9 A.M. to 4:45 P.M. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. The Village offers a generous compensation package.
