The Library is seeking a part-time Library Clerk to work an average of 14-18 hours per week. Under supervision of the Circulation Supervisor or Librarian-in-Charge, perform duties related to front desk customer service, library materials handling and processing, and customer technology assistance.
Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills
Customer Service – Provide enthusiastic, proactive, sincere and high quality front desk services to customers of all ages and abilities; assist customers in the use of library-supplied technology; demonstrate patience with complex and routine questions; show comfort with problem resolution; ensure outstanding communication with public.
Organization – Perform with accuracy all circulation, technical and collection maintenance routines and procedures under direction from professional staff; assist with library programs and displays; demonstrate flexibility and ability to multitask in a busy environment; accept all other duties as assigned by Circulation Supervisor or Librarian-in-Charge.
Initiative & Dependability – Carry out instructions and work independently and seek direction when necessary; assume voluntary leadership roles when opportunities arise; provide information services as necessary; set priorities to meet assigned deadlines.
Judgment – Develop creative, feasible and realistic solutions to problems; recommend proactive solutions to prevent problems from occurring.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, email, internet browsers and searching.
- Excellent customer service soft skills as evidenced by reference checks and/or Personnel Evaluation Profile ™.
- Schedule flexibility for day, evening and weekend work.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English.
- Previous employment or volunteer experience with in-person customer service.
Required Physical Abilities
- Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting and reaching.
- Talking and hearing: at normal volume in person and on telephone, with or without corrective device.
- Seeing: clearly both near and far, with or without corrective llenses.
- Lifting and carrying: up to 30 pounds at onetime.
- Handling: processing, lifting and shelving books.

- Pushing and pulling: objects weighing 60 - 80 pounds on wheels.
- Mobility: independent travel to meetings outside the library.
