Seasonal Laborer- Public Works
Village of Hainesville
Individuals will be responsible for the maintenance of the Village’s property and assist with the repairs and construction of various projects throughout.
Duties will include:
- Tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, using a chipper.
- Village cleanup - storm damage, clean drains and garbage removal.
- Landscaping - tree planting, spreading mulch on paths and trees, grass mowing.
- Asphalt repairs, concrete replacement, assisting with storm sewer repairs.
- Any other tasks including vehicle maintenance and janitorial work as directed by supervisor.
Job is labor intensive and has both unique and repetitive tasks each week. Individuals must be ready to be outside for majority of their shift and be independently driven. Outside work will be canceled on most rain days unless otherwise scheduled by supervisor.
Hours: 7:30am and 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday. 30 minute lunch unpaid. Occasionally it will be requested to start at 7am if the job for the day requires it. Request will be asked the prior day.
Position Start: May 5th, 2025. Position will continue until October 24th depending on schedule or till employee reaches 1000 hrs in the calendar year. Interviews will start in April and decisions will be made by April 18th. 4 positions to be filled.
Salary: $18.00 per hour. No benefits are included.
Requirements:
- Applicants must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Illinois Driver License, and reliable transportation.
- Must successfully pass drug and alcohol screening, criminal background and driving record check.
- Must be able to lift or carry a weight up to 80 lbs.
