Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Village Administrator, this position will assist in the acquisition, support, operation and maintenance of the Village’s information, telecommunication and computer network systems and provide technical support with regards to the installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of all personal computers and network hardware, software and peripherals. The IT Specialist will work with all departments to have a high-level understanding of department-related software applications, managing the security roles, while providing software specific support.
Essential Functions

- Meets with department representatives, SME’s, and end users to review software solutions. Makes recommendations on opportunities to implement village-wide software solutions, when appropriate.
- Reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develops strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Internal business application support. Provide recommendations for software updates, patch installation, and application testing.
- Provides users with technical support in a friendly and professional manner and educating users by answering questions concerning use and functionality of the technology used to support their role.
- Develops and issues process documentation to end users. Provides orientation and training to end users for all primary software solutions.
- Works seamlessly with the Human Resources team to manage the employee experience. Assist with the onboarding and offboarding of employees upon hire or departure.
- Maintains information, telecommunication and computer network systems which includes troubleshooting hardware issues, installing and replacing hardware. Installs and configures software; maintain records of all software license agreements.
- Assists in maintaining network and IT system security.
- Assists in evaluating and optimizing network or system performance.
- Responds to IT support calls through the IT ticketing system and manages and updates ticketing system until issue is resolved.
- Maintains inventory and keeps track of all IT assets.
- Assists in the annual budget process with a focus on the annual software subscription/maintenance costs, along with recommendations on hardware needs, including replacement items.
- Assists with recovery plans in the event of an interruption of normal information system operations.
- Sets up, modifies, and terminates employee email accounts and security credentials for all networked systems.
- Utilizes proper safety precautions related to all work performed and adheres to all departmental and Village safety policies. Advises supervisor of hazards and corrective actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree with course work in Information Technology or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible related IT experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Certifications in CompTIA A , Security , Network , Cisco and Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert preferred
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
