Highly technical and analytic work of a highly responsible nature in connection with the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the department's communications and information systems. Work is performed under the direction of the Information Systems Manager with some latitude for independent judgment on technical matters. Employee is responsible for planning, scheduling, supervising and monitoring department computer systems projects, communications systems, and coordinating equipment utilization, human resources and computer requirements.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provides technical advice and assistance to department management team.Provides, schedules and coordinates computer training for department employees.Maintains control of software licensing in conjunction with the information systems staff.Running of network cable and installation of network jacks to allow PC’s to connect to the village network.Running of phone cable and installation of phone jacks to connect new phones to our PBX.Moving of phone extensions to another location as personnel are reassigned to different duties.Troubleshooting phone issues such as no dial tone, static on line, etc.Troubleshooting voicemail issues.Setup of new phone extensions and voice mail for all new hire’s.Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly network data backups to ensure data is safe in the event of a system failure or accidental deletion of files that can be restored when needed.Install and configure new PC workstations and laptops and ensure that end-user has the proper software applications installed for their specific jobs.Assist the PSAP Manager with preparing the 911 budget each year.Provide end-user application and hardware support.24/7 Emergency Response for server, desktop, phone, network issues, etc.Pull surveillance videos from crime scenes such as gas stations, pharmacies, other local business, and sometimes someone’s residence when request are made by the detective bureau for a case.Pull video interviews taken at the station when request is made by the detective bureau for a case.Pull video for CVSA Interview taken at the station by our CVSA Technician trained to perform this duty.Pull 911, Phone, Radio Traffic, Etc. from our recording equipment at the request of State Attorney, Law Firms, Officer, Records Department, Other Agencies, Etc.Installation and configuration of security cameras and DVR equipment at village facilities.Troubleshooting of security cameras and DVR equipment.Weekly checks of all village security cameras and DVR equipment to ensure proper operation which includes exporting video once a month.Assist with police dispatching when needed.Setup of the Emergency Operations Center for Public Safety when a storm or other emergency requires activation of the center.Provide support during or after a storm or other emergency when EOC has been activated as determined by the I.T. Director.Provide support for the library computer lab which also includes wireless network equipment.Training of end-users on new software when needed.Works with the I.T. Director to determine equipment and human resource requirements for all village departments.Maintain recording equipment for 911, Police Radio System, Non-Emergency phone lines in dispatch, council chambers, village hall conference room, etc.Setup Video Projector for training, presentations, etc.Installation of printers and scanners.Troubleshoot printer and scanner issues.(The above list of essential functions is not meant to be all inclusive. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTSWork requires the intermittent installation, moving, and modification to computer/network systems equipment and peripheral components. Due to the varying nature of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements consistent with electronics installations and wiring systems. Some tasks include materials handling where physical risks are predictable and/or controllable by observance of standard safety precautions.
