The Recreation Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing, and managing of recreational programs, camps, events, and activities within the Village. This position ensures that programs meet the community’s needs and are delivered in a high-quality and cost-effective manner. The Recreation Manager supervises recreation staff, coordinates program schedules, and oversees facility use for recreational activities. This position reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation, but requires independent judgement and self-direction.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Oversees daily operations and programming in all recreational facilities within the Village, including Anchorage Park, Osbourne Park, and the Community Center.Plans, organizes, and directs a broad variety of recreational programming, camps, activities, and special events for residents of all ages. Identifies and engages program and event partners who can provide best in class experiences for residents and visitors of the Village. Special focus on community wellness, community events, athletic leagues, recreation/youth camps, and programming.Evaluates program participation, feedback, and outcomes, making adjustments to ensure program relevance and effectiveness.Develops and administers agreements with community partners for services and programs rendered in the Recreation facilities that enhance services to the residents. Promotes and maintains Village partnerships and sponsorships.Negotiates, manages, and oversees contracts for instructors and program facilitators, ensuring compliance with contract terms and maintaining high standards of service delivery.Assists in the marketing of the Parks & Recreation programs and facilities using a unified brand, developing attractive publications, web site, press releases, presentations and social media presence.Coordinates facility rental program for outside groups including facility tours, managing a list of suggested preferred vendors for rental of equipment, establishing rental agreement contracts including ample staffing if needed, billing and collection of rental fees, and ensures facility rental fees recover costs at a minimum or provide for a means of revenue. Obtains Request for Quotes for equipment, supplies, tents, amusements, food/beverage, entertainment, sound, etc.Directs and supervises the activities of assigned staff, including any contracted staff and volunteers. Makes recommendations for disciplinary actions, hiring, and termination of assigned personnel or changes to contracted staffing. Prepares performance evaluations and conducts evaluation meetings with staff.Oversees the registration of all program participants.Schedules work assignments that ensures the facilities and programs are effectively supervised and secured, and provides technical training to all staff. Supervise and schedule staff, contractors, and vendors to ensure high standards of service.Maintains and ensures the safety, security and equipment of the Parks & Recreation facilities.Ensures compliance with Village policies, safety regulations, environmental standards, and local ordinances.Assists the Director of Parks & Recreation in developing operating policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.Coordinates with other Village departments and external organizations on shared projects, events, and initiatives.Responds to and resolve complaints or inquiries related to recreation programming from residents and visitors.Participates in the budget and strategic planning process and recommend policies to improve the quality and sustainability of parks and recreation. Monitors and manages the recreation budget, including revenue projections and program expenditures.Identifies opportunities for grants and assist in the preparation and submission of grant applications to secure funding for Recreation programming.Identifies staff development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained.Attends and participates in professional group meetings and conferences as appropriate.Subject to after-hours response to emergency situations.May serve as primary administrator in the absence of the Director of Parks & Recreation.Compiles and submits administrative reports and materials on a timely basis.Stays abreast of new trends in events and programming.(The above list of essential functions is not exclusive or all-inclusive. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe work is performed primarily in an office environment and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. The job requires sitting for extended periods of me and the work may expose the employee to visual strain, unpleasant social situations, irregular work hours and significant work pace pressure. Work may be required in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. Employee must have the ability to work outdoors including intense or inclement weather conditions.
