As a Yoga Instructor, you will guide students through a safe, engaging, and inspiring practice, tailored to their needs and abilities. You will create an exceptional experience for every student by providing expert instruction, encouragement, and a welcoming environment.
An employee in this class is responsible for instructing participants and organizing pre-planned lessons that are age appropriate. Maintain orderliness and facility upkeep through related duties. Enforce rules. Work is performed under the supervision of the Athletic and/or Program Coordinator. Must be available to work a flexible schedule.
SAFETY:
This position requires enforcing and following all Village of Pinehurst and OSHA safety regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Effective visual perception is needed for making observations including distinguishing colors, performing visual and physical inspections of work site. Work is performed indoors. The employee may be exposed to noise, infectious and/or contagious diseases.
Work is typically performed while walking, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. Employee will occasionally lift light objects.
Must be able to perform moderate work exerting up to 25 lbs. of force, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Minimum of 200 hours experience required. Must possess knowledge to teach various yoga classes to include but not limited to chair yoga, yin yoga and slow yoga. Prefer a candidate with a yoga alliance certification or equivalent.
Prefer: First Aid/CPR certified.

- Plans and organizes all lessons and support materials for classes, programs and events
- Assist students to achieve precise alignment
- Demonstrates practice and techniques
- Visually assess students to determine their level of practice
- Instructs participants for entire duration of class-time, including clean up
- Set-up and break-down equipment; report equipment problems to the Athletic and/or Program Coordinator
- Maintains enthusiasm and tact in all contact with the public, program participants, and other staff
- Maintain clean work and play areas
- Enforce class rules; document incidents if needed
- Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all VOP and department policies
- Other related duties as assigned
- Must be able to report to work promptly and when scheduled
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with participants, staff, peers and management
- Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of department policies and procedures
- Knowledge and fundamentals of the area of program instruction
- Ability to observe and work with large groups of participants
- Ability to teach in a group setting
- Ability to follow directions; enforce rules
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem solve
- Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints
