Job Overview
This is semi-skilled work involving responsibility for the independent performance of a variety of mechanical and other building maintenance tasks. Work may also involve occasional operation of a truck or other light automotive equipment incidental to normal work assignments. General instructions are received from superior and work is performed under general management or immediate supervision depending on the nature of the task. The incumbent does related work as required.
Duties
- Performs semi-skilled masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding and painting work;
- Repairs and replaces windows, doors, floors, walls, roofing, and other part of building;
- Mixes plaster and concrete and assists in brick laying, plastering, and concrete work;
- Installs lights, switches, and receptacles; helps to install and repair wiring systems and equipment;
- Installs and repairs general plumbing equipment including sinks, toilets, urinals, and hot water heaters;
- Does interior and exterior painting;
- Operates welder to repair and fabricate screens, frames, pipes, and etc.;
- Checks boilers to ensure proper operation;
- Periodic maintenance on boiler system;
- Disassembles, inspects, and performs preventative maintenance on heating and air-conditioning equipment;
- Repairs and replaces locks;
- Operates automotive equipment incidental to work assignments;
- Uses a variety of hand and power tools;
- Participates in snow removal;
- Participates in general grounds maintenance activities;
- May perform general cleaning and custodial duties as required.
Qualifications
- Graduation from high school, possession of a high school equivalency diploma or possession of an Individual Education Plan diploma AND one (1) year of experience in building construction, maintenance, or repair work in one or more of the standard building trades such as carpentry plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc.

Pay: From $27.83 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
