FINANCE ASSISTANT
Job Description
DEFINITION:
Under supervision, performs a wide variety of assignments in the finance department and engages in a variety of general bookkeeping functions. These functions may include providing administrative support as needed in other departments of the Authority.
REPORTS TO: Assistant Executive Director – Asset Manager
WORKS WITH:
Executive Staff
Finance Staff
Occupancy Specialist Staff
Property Management Staff
Congregate Administrative Staff
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
Under immediate supervision, performs assignments according to detailed instructions, written or oral. This position is expected to possess above average math skills and analytical skills; the ability to multi-task; the ability to prepare and maintain various reports and to work equally well independently as in a group.
AREAS OF WORK:
Miscellaneous Accounting duties including but not limited to the following:
Accounts Receivable (rents and other deposits)
Accounts Payable
Account Reconciliation
Monthly and Year End reporting
Audit preparation
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Graduation from High School or Vocational-Technical High School or possession of an approved High School equivalency Certificate, and three (3) years of accounting or related work preferred; experience with general subsidiary ledgers.
1. Knowledge of arithmetic computation such as discounts and interest; and add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
2. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
3. Ability to count and record numerical data.
4. Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations such as addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
5. Ability to follow detailed oral and written directions.
6. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with co-workers.
7. Ability to deal courteously with the general public.
8. Ability to maintain accurate and concise records and files.
9. Knowledge and use of standard office computer programs – i.e., Microsoft Office,
Adobe Acrobat, FileVision, Yardi Systems or equal, and knowledge to utilize programs in performance of duties.
10. Willingness to act as a temporary “fill-in” employee for various positions, including performance of functions not listed herein, during the temporary absence of employees. Willingness to cover various positions on an as-needed basis as needed and as requested. This may include coverage at the
Receptionist Desk to greet walk-in customers and/or to answer the telephone.
11. Willingness to attend periodic professional training seminars at the expense of the Authority.
12. Possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license and be willing to drive throughout the City of Vineland and surrounding areas daily in the performance of assigned duties.
