Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for managing and recording all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and assisting in financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Assist with internal and external audits as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide financial insights.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement.
- Handle payroll processing and related tax filings.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in the flooring or construction industry.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks and Netsuite
