Revenue Management - Data Scientist

Virgin Voyages is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Revenue Management Data Scientist to join our team. This role is critical for driving revenue growth through the development and implementation of advanced analytical models. You will be responsible for the entire model lifecycle, from data collection and preprocessing to model building, deployment, and performance monitoring. This position requires a strong technical background, a deep understanding of statistical modeling techniques, and the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations. You will work closely with various business stakeholders to identify opportunities for revenue optimization and contribute directly to the company's financial success. This is a high-impact role where your contributions will be immediately visible and valued.

This gig is based at VVHQ - our swanky Virgin Voyages Head Office in Plantation, FL where we follow a hybrid work environment. We can't wait to 'sea' you in person during our Collaboration Days, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, while you enjoy Mondays and Fridays' as remote days.

What You'll Be Up To:

• Develop and implement statistical and machine learning models for revenue forecasting, pricing optimization, demand prediction, and other revenue-related areas.
• Integrate and validate the newly implemented revenue management system, ensuring alignment with business objectives and data accuracy.
• Manage the full model lifecycle, including data collection, cleaning, feature engineering, model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform revenue management strategies.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines for efficient data processing and model training.
• Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop and automate reporting dashboards to track key performance indicators and provide actionable insights.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing models and processes.

SuperPowers Required:

• Data Wrangling Wizard: Expert in data manipulation and preprocessing using tools like SQL, Python (Pandas, NumPy), or R.
• Visualization Virtuoso: Experience creating insightful data visualizations (using Tableau)
• Statistical Modeling Guru: Proficient in a variety of statistical modeling techniques (e.g., regression, time series analysis, classification, clustering).
• Operations Research Expert: Experience with optimization techniques (e.g., linear programming, dynamic programming, integer programming) and their application to business problems.
• Deployment Dynamo: Ability to deploy and maintain models in a production environment.
• Business Acumen: Understanding of revenue management principles and practices.
• Data Storyteller: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 1
• Problem Solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for finding data-driven solutions.
• Self-Starter: Highly motivated and independent, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Cloud Computing Champion: Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

What You'll Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering) required; Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience in data science, with a focus on revenue management, operations research, or a related field.
• Proven track record of developing and deploying successful analytical models.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Experience with SQL and data warehousing.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms is a plus.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
