We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Employee Benefits Client Support Specialist to join our team. This role involves providing exceptional support and service to our member banks, addressing their benefits-related inquiries, and ensuring smooth operation of benefits systems. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for helping clients navigate their benefits options.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Consult, research, and resolve member banks' inquiries regarding process and benefit enrollment system issues, as well as benefits-related questions.
- Assist with special projects or initiatives with other Benefits Corporation team members, including preparing materials and making presentations related to our benefit plans, annual open enrollment and member training.
- Serve as a conduit between member banks and insurance carriers/retirement plan vendors to answer questions or resolve escalated problems.
- Assist in the coordination of the annual open enrollment process, including communicating required timelines, responsibilities, and instructions for the banks, testing bank sites, and troubleshooting questions during open enrollment.
- Build positive relationships with clients to foster client retention.
- Manage client expectations, anticipate issues, and communicate turnaround times with reasonable delivery dates.
- Participate in VBA Benefits Corp. staff meetings, annual strategic plannings and benefits vendor/bank meetings.
- Perform other special projects as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills; ability to clarify and respond well to inquiries.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient organizational skills, ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of benefits administration systems.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to use Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with insurance carriers and retirement plan vendors.
- Familiarity with benefit enrollment processes and communication strategies.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee benefits, client support or related area.
In-office Requirement
- Five days per week in the office. Telework may be available occasionally at the discretion of the manager.
Travel Requirement
- Some occasional travel for training and meetings.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods standing at events
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
Licenses
Virginia Driver's license; Health and Life Agent license a plus
