Position Overview:
The Grade 3-5 Math Teacher will be responsible for teaching math to students in grades 3, 4, and 5. Our ideal candidate will have experience working with upper elementary school students and a passion for math education. This position involves working closely with our 2nd and 6th grade teachers to ensure smooth transitions and a cohesive math curriculum that spans from early elementary through middle school.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach math to students in grades 3-5, focusing on building a strong foundation in mathematical concepts.
Use the Math in Focus curriculum (a version of Singapore Math) to engage and challenge students, making math both accessible and exciting.
Collaborate with the 2nd grade and 6th grade teachers to align the math curriculum and ensure students are prepared for success as they progress.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
Foster an environment where students feel confident, curious, and excited about learning math.
Cultivate kindness, respect, and a strong sense of community in the classroom, as aligned with Quaker values.
Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and support to students and families as needed.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives and participate in regular professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in education, mathematics, or a related field (a master’s degree is a plus).
Classroom experience, ideally teaching grades 3, 4, or 5, with a focus on math education.
A passion for math and teaching, with a strong desire to instill curiosity and a love of learning in students.
Experience with or willingness to learn and implement the Math in Focus curriculum (Singapore Math).
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
Strong organizational skills, patience, and a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
