Duties & Responsibilities | VCU’s School of Medicine is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to fill the Senior HR Administrator position supporting the Department of Surgery. The Department of Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University is a leading academic and clinical division within the VCU School of Medicine. It is home to 11 specialist divisions, four residency programs and seven fellowship programs. The department is dedicated to providing exceptional care to patients while advancing medical research, education, and training in the field of surgery. With a focus on cutting-edge research, innovative treatments, and high-quality patient care, the Department of Surgery encompasses multiple specialties, including general surgery, surgical oncology, trauma, and transplant surgery, among others. Summary: The Senior HR Administrator will act as a strategic partner to the Department of Surgery’s leadership team, providing expert guidance utilizing both VCU and VCU Health/MCVP policies and processes across a range of HR functions including talent management, employee relations, performance management, compensation, and compliance. Additionally, this role will support key HR operations such as employee onboarding, benefits and leave administration, payroll/timekeeping, and terminations. The Senior HR Administrator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating HR-related projects within the department, serving as the subject matter expert on all HR policies and procedures. This position is crucial in ensuring that HR initiatives align with departmental goals, drive employee engagement, and foster a motivated, high-performing workforce. Working closely with department leadership, the Senior HR Administrator will help implement HR best practices, promote a culture of inclusion, and support organizational success.
