VCU Athletics is seeking an energetic, passionate intern for our Student Athlete Development area.
Position Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Assistant AD for Student-Athlete Development, the Student-Athlete Development Intern will assist with all aspects of the student-athlete development program. The Student-Athlete Development Intern’s primary focus will assist in the delivery and implementation of the Student-Athlete Vocational Assessment program, providing career and life skills advising to first year student-athletes. Additionally, The Student-Athlete Development Intern will assist in the development and daily operations related to student-athlete career development, leadership development, community engagement, personal development, and academic support services. The individual will collaborate with different parts of the VCU Athletic Department and VCU Campus departments. This position requires some evening and weekend hours.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree or education and training equivalent to a bachelor's degree
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;
General knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; and
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
An advanced degree or progress towards a Master’s Degree
Personal student-athlete collegiate experience;
Multilingual skills; and
Experience working with student-athletes at a large, diverse, urban, NCAA Division l university.
