This position reports to the Director of Facilities for Residential Life and Housing. The role of the Assistant Director of Operations is to enhance customer service for the residents and guests who visit the residence halls on campus.
- Lead the Operations area within the Facilities Team.
- Supervise six full-time professionals directly, four full-time professionals indirectly, and 175-200 student staff indirectly.
- Set training programs, policies, and procedures for Information Desks and Area Offices.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate all full-time Staff
- Oversee and support the Desk Coordinator rotation, which provides crisis response for emergencies within the residence hall information desks.
- Coordinate the administrative functions of residence hall desks across campus.
- Provide leadership in promoting an atmosphere within the residential community that fosters responsible decision-making among Desk Coordinators and Desk Assistants.
- Oversee the residence hall Area Office and key functions of office functions, which includes hall occupancy and key management.
- Oversee the central email and voicemail for the Residential Life and Housing office.
- Earned Master’s Degree in related field; or relevant work experience .Three to five (3-5) years professional experience in residence life/housing; Effective communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to build teams and work collaboratively; Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to work well under pressure with multiple and changing deadlines; Demonstrated proficiency utilizing technology such as web applications, online systems, database software, and standard office packages (such as Microsoft Office and Google Suite). Experience supervising staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage several responsibilities simultaneously, resolve problems using initiative and sound judgment, collect, interpret, and report data and write informational materials and reports; Strong interpersonal skills.
- Masters Degree Preferred in Student Personnel, Counseling, Higher Education, etc.
- Previous Residence Life live-in experience; Experience collaborating with administrative services, residential life, facilities conference and mail services
- Experience conducting recruitment, selection, or training processes; Knowledge of student learning theory and developmental outcomes, and experience in its application; Specific experience with platforms like eRezLife, Canvas, StarRez, and the Google Suite Applications.
