The Enrollment Coordinator in the Office of Student Services in VCU’s College of Humanities and Sciences will establish relationships with students, parents, and counselors who have shown interest in learning more about undergraduate programs in the College of Humanities and Sciences. This position serves a critical role in achieving VCU’s enrollment goals.
Job Specific Duties
The enrollment coordinator will represent the College at university events like receptions, open houses, and other admitted student programming. This person will coordinate and conduct information sessions and on-campus visits with prospective students and families to provide information about the College, programs/majors, admissions processes, and university policies and procedures. They will be responsible for leading an ambassador program for undergraduate students across majors/programs in the College. The person in this role will routinely interface with University officials on admissions/recruitment issues, handle assignments timely, and make decisions independently with minimal guidance from the supervisor.
Core Responsibilities
●Undergraduate Student Recruitment
--Work alongside the Recruitment Coordinator to support and further all undergraduate recruitment and admissions-related efforts.
--Establish relationships with students, parents, counselors, and teachers interested in learning more about undergraduate programs in the College of Humanities Sciences
--Meet in-person and virtually with prospective and admitted students and their guests to provide information about the school, admissions process, curriculum, and more.
--Coordinate and execute on-campus recruitment and yield events: open houses, preview days, high school visits, information sessions, and other recruitment-related activities with prospective and admitted students.
--Travel to university admissions-sponsored recruitment and yield events each semester. Current areas include Northern VA, VA Beach, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York, and areas may expand.
--Utilize Slate CRM for visit and event registration and tracking, email campaigns, maintaining all student inquiry information, data collection, and more.
--Conduct call and email campaigns at various points in the admissions cycle, including students who have been admitted but haven’t accepted, students who have submitted an application but are missing materials, and more.
●Student Ambassador Advising
--Serve as primary Advisor for Rambassador program
--Work with ambassadors and Communications to produce relevant social media content
--Coordinate with other student organizations within the College of Humanities and Sciences
●Other Duties – The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
●Strong organizational skills
●Experience working with high school and/or college aged students
●Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
●Demonstrated excellence in public speaking and interaction skills
●Strong comfort level with making presentations to small and large groups
●Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
●Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
●Responsible, mature, self-starter with good judgment and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential matters are essential qualities
●Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to work with a diverse population
●Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
●Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
●Tech savvy with the ability to use common office software applications (MS Office, Google Suite, virtual conference applications, database skills, etc.)
●Ability to work outside traditional work hours, including periodic evenings and weekends.
●Occasional overnight travel.
●Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
●Experience in college admissions, recruitment, or marketing
●Knowledge of admissions/recruitment procedures
●Experience with admissions/recruitment CRM, Slate preferred
●Experience using social media as a marketing tool
