Mission or Goal of Unit : Children's Hospital of Richmond of the VirginiaCommonwealth University Health System has devoted to excellence in clinicalcare, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.
Chief Purpose of this position : The Children's Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a physician within the Section of Clinical Genetics, Department of Pediatrics. CHoR at VCU has a commitment to provide quality patient care and service excellence. The Section of Clinical Genetics offers inpatient and outpatient consultations and genetic counseling services for genetic conditions across the lifespan. CHoR is the largest full-service academic pediatric hospital in central Virginia, and part of a multispecialty hospital with 160 beds. Our Children's Pavilion for outpatient services opened in March 2016. Our new 500,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art inpatient facility Children's Tower opened in April 2023.
Position Responsibilities :
- Teaching : Will contribute to the clinical supervision andeducation of residents, medical students, genetic counselors, graduate studentsand ancillary staff. They will also contribute to didactic teaching in the MSGenetic Counseling Program and VCU School of Medicine.
- Research : Willengage in scholarship through presentations at national meetings, contributionsto peer-reviewed scientific literature, and active participation in appropriateprofessional organizations.
- Service : Willparticipate in regional and national conferences with clinical colleagues.Participation in departmental, institutional and national committees isencouraged, when appropriate.
- Clinical : Activeparticipation as a clinician in various clinics and other settings, including telemedicine,and sharing call and consultative responsibilities with other Clinical Geneticsphysicians. VCU Clinical Genetics sees patients across the lifespan, frompreconceptional to end of life. Candidates can expect to see both pediatric and adult patients. Majorityof clinical appointment will be conducted on our downtown Richmond campus inboth our adult outpatient pavilion and our pediatric outpatient pavilion.
