Job Duties
The Department of Environmental Quality, Valley Regional Office is seeking a qualified candidate to protect the public health and the environment through intelligent and consistent application of federal and state laws, regulations, policies and current waste management technology. This position is responsible for conducting regular evaluations of solid and hazardous waste management facilities, compiling and analyzing data required by facility operation permits, and responding to and investigating reports of improper solid and hazardous waste management.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of environmental science or engineering, chemistry, soil science, geology, hydrology, industrial operations, and waste management techniques, environmental laws and regulations. Skills in conducting inspections or investigations, screening, organizing, and analyzing data, interpreting and assessing environmental impacts, and communicating regulations and procedures. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database applications. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, prepare and present technical reports to diverse groups, work without close supervision, and to resolve problems independently and as part of a team.
