Job Duties
A. Performance Management

B. Supervises Volunteer Services & PES Departments
Conducts staff evaluations on assigned employees (currently eight employees)
Provides back-up coverage for Director of Psychosocial Rehab as directedPrimary Supervisor for the Beautician, Treatment Mall Coordinator & PES.Responsible for completing group supervision sessions with PSR Director at regular intervalsAssists in supervising additional therapists / treatment mall staff membersOversees the Treatment Mall Operations and reports to the Psychosocial Rehab Director.Monitors group referrals and attendance and suggests changes to the Psychosocial Rehab Director and staff as needed.C. Provide community outreach by speaking to community organizations about volunteering at Catawba hospital and the need for donations.Recruits, interviews, screens, conducts orientation, and places volunteers as necessary.Coordinates assignments, training and supervision of volunteers with unit staff when indicated.Mailing of brochures for Operation Santa Claus yearly.Upon receipt of donation, accept and acknowledge monetary and non-monetary donations.Coordinate volunteer parties, caroling, and other events as scheduled.Consistently maintains and supervises the operation of the Volunteer Services Donation Storage Room and Patient's Clothing Room on a weekly basis.Prepare, monitor, process and document transactions; handle and write correspondence, interdepartmental memoranda, reports on periodic evaluation of volunteer programs, activities, services, and performance of volunteers per department / facility guidelines.Assist in planning yearly fundraising events for Volunteer Services / Operation Santa Claus like the annual Bluegrass FestivalSchedule and provide community members with access to the hospital chapel for weddings, memorial services and other events, per policyD. Provide direct Patient Contact care according to Psychosocial Rehab Dept Program descriptions for the treatment and rehabilitation adult and geriatric patients.
Plans and conducts daily therapeutic programming in accordance with Psychosocial Rehab Department program descriptions and active treatment protocols.Redirects patient behavior, as needed, to ensure a positive environment.Maintains daily, a therapeutic environment that is free of safety hazards.Reports accurate daily feedback on changes in patient's behavior to unit staff, Treatment Teams, and Psychosocial Rehab Director.Provides on a weekly basis, appropriate input for development of gradable active treatment group protocols.On a daily basis, revises or creates groups according to changes in population, unit milieu needs, etc.E. Psychosocial Rehab Liaison and Treatment Plan Coordinator responsibilities
Serves as Psychosocial Rehab Liaison and Treatment Plan Coordinator to a specified unit, as assigned.
Psychosocial Rehab duties include appropriate participation on Interdisciplinary Treatment Team, formulation and completion of Treatment Plans, presentation of cases as scheduled, completion of Patient Assessments, Reassessments as assigned.Liaison duties include participation in the Unit Milieu Committee, as assigned, and ensure effective communication of pertinent patient information to other Psychosocial Rehab staff daily, if indicated, to aid in programming.F. Maintain Quality Documentation
Completes (daily / weekly / monthly per policy) all required documentation in an accurate and timely manner to include Interdisciplinary Notes to address the patient's participation and progress in groups, Comprehensive Treatment Plans for those patients assigned, new Patient Assessments, Reassessments, Daily Attendance Sheets, and CPT Coding.Completes all medical record documentation in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, accrediting / certifying body regulations, and state / federal laws as evidenced by medical record review, supervisor / peer reviews, and / or results of accrediting / certifying body reviews.G. Maintains Patient Library according to Standards
Supervise receipt / placement of materials in Patient Library as needed.
Maintains Library books on shelves as needed.Oversees accurate distribution of library materials to patients in the hospital (newspapers, magazines, audiotapes, players) as needed.H. General responsibilities
Meets with Department Head, as scheduled, to communicate needs for assistance, supplies, or equipment and receive feedback.
Maintains, organizes, and cleans work area and storage space on a daily basis and demonstrates a safety conscious attitude.Attends Psychosocial Rehab staff meetings / required in-services as scheduled.Works cooperatively with other Psychosocial Rehab and hospital staff as demonstrated during supervisor's observation and minimal complaints from staff.When assigned, provides group coverage to other Psychosocial Rehab staff.Assists with planning and implementing hospital-wide patient activities as scheduled.Active member of the Active Treatment Steering CommitteeOther duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
Good decision making, problem solving, organization and planning skills; good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to implement Psychosocial Rehab programming for patients with psychiatric disorders.Knowledge of psychiatric illnesses and their treatment.Additional Considerations
Previous supervisory experience in a psychiatric setting is preferred.
