Job Duties

******Virginia Professional Engineer's (PE) License at hire or with 6-months of hire******


To provide direct management of the Capital Construction projects, A/E’s and Contractors related to the design, construction, renovations and maintenance reserve projects for the Department Capital and non-Capital projects according to state law, building codes and regulations, and the Capital Outlay Manual. To make professional recommendations and insure the constructability of design plans and specifications for construction projects for the Department. To assist other staff in the management and administration of Capital and non-capital projects

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated skills in capital improvement process, customer service, project management, planning and budgeting/cost estimating. Demonstrated ability to use engineering practices, CADD/drafting and other computer software related to construction administration. Demonstrated ability to procure and administer professional and non-professional services, contract administration, and construction practices.

Additional Considerations

Preferred 4 Year Education in Engineering and Architecture. Experience in engineering design, preparation of drawings and specifications and bidding procedures. Further experience in permitting, construction practices, project management and contract administration. This position requires a valid Virginia Professional Engineer's (PE) License at hire, or ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire. Failure to obtain may result in termination. Valid driver’s license required.
