Growing law firm in Richmond, VA’s West End seeking an Estate Administration Attorney.


Virginia Estate & Trust Law, PLC has created a new position for an Attorney to join the firm’s expanding Estate Administration Practice Group. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated junior attorney who is interested primarily in the estate administration side of the practice and willing to be trained and mentored over time.


The Estate Administration Attorney will report to the Director of Estate Administration and will be trained in the general estate administration process, including: the process for analyzing new estates and advising clients; the probate process and preparation of all related documents; the administration of non-probate assets; and tax preparation.


Responsibilities:

  • Supports all attorneys on estate administration matters.
  • Advises his/her own estate administration clients. 
  • Handles administration on certain estates for clients when the firm is named as executor/trustee.
  • Works with other Estate Administration team members in monitoring various probate and tax deadlines.
  • Prepares federal and state fiduciary income tax returns, federal estate tax returns, and probate and trust accountings for his/her own estates, as well as other estates, as needed.
  • Manages a limited amount of estate planning that naturally evolves from the estate administration process.


Desired Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years of related work experience with a law firm, trust department, or similar environment is preferred.

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar is required.
  • Experience in estate administration is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Presents a professional, positive manner with clients and colleagues.
  • Acute attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team.
  • Develops and uses systems to organize and keep track of information, work progress, and deadlines.
  • Approaches challenging tasks with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Can effectively handle several problems or tasks at once.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client service.
