The Voice and Unified Communication Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining unified communication systems. This role involves working closely with IT teams, vendors, and end-users to ensure seamless communication and collaboration across the organization.
Voice and Unified Communications Specialist manages and optimizes complex multi-site VoIP networks, call centers, and advanced voice systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with Microsoft and Cisco along with a deep understanding of voice mail and unified messaging systems.
This role ensures that the company's top critical business system remains high-quality, reliable, and efficient. Daily activities will include troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing system performance, and leading projects to upgrade or deploy new solutions. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand needs and continuously enhance our voice services. Candidates must have strong customer service skills, have a high level of professionalism, and have an eagerness to learn the business functions and processes supported by the telephony and unified communication systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Design, deploy, and manage unified communication solutions, including VoIP, SIP, video conferencing, instant messaging, and collaboration tools.Configure and maintain communication servers, gateways, and related infrastructure.Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary upgrades and patches.Collaborate with IT and network teams to ensure integration and compatibility with existing systems.Provide technical support and training to end-users.Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in unified communications.Perform updates, patches, and configuration changes to enhance performanceDiagnose and resolve complex voice issues quickly and accuratelyProvide advanced support for critical voice incidents and work cross-functionally to resolve issuesLead and manage projects focused on voice system upgrades, migrations, and integrationsAssist incident commanders as troubleshooting lead in solving complex and critical disruptionsAssist in creating, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery procedures for open systems.All other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
7-10 years experience in voice engineeringBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Proven experience in unified communication systems, such as Cisco Unified Communications, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and similar platforms.In-depth knowledge of voice protocols and network fundamentals including VoIP protocols, SIP, H.323, and related technologies.Experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, software, troubleshooting tools, and firewalls.MINIMUM SKILL QUALIFICATIONS
