What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at Virginia Gay Hospital, LTC and Clinics?
Primary responsibility is for general ledger activity including initiating journal entries, reconciling various general ledger accounts, financial reporting, budget tracking, bank reconciliations, asset management, cost accounting projects, reimbursement review projects, and tracking of various revenue/expense items. Other areas of responsibility include accounts payable, payroll functions, and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with financial audit, payer cost reports, and tax return
- Assist with month-end close process for GL, A/P, A/R, etc.
- Performs general ledger account reconciliations as assigned
- Responsible for asset management including depreciation expense and disposals
- Assist with budget preparation and monitoring
- Initiation of journal entries
- Process payroll including periodically including reporting and updates
- Provides accurate and timely periodic reports for internal and external use including financial statements
- Perform job costing projects as needed
- Responsible for compiling, processing and maintaining accounts payable records
- Verifies approval on all invoices and check requests
- Update and maintain vendor database
- Manage invoice repository to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Track various accounts and expenses for reporting purposes
- Supporting responsibilities with purchasing and inventory
- Complete revenue reimbursement tracking/reporting
- Assist with daily deposit process for patient and payer payments
- Proficiency with Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and charts/graphs
- Monitors bad debt and collections
- Helps review accounts to referral to 3rd party collection agency
- Responsible for reconciliation of all bank accounts
- Quality Assurance Assessment quarterly reporting/payments
- Iowa Hospital Association databank reporting
- Attendance at work on a regular and reliable basis
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Must comply with all hospital policies and procedures
- Attend all meetings as requested
- Willingness to attend outside meetings and training opportunities
- Maintains departmental knowledge in all areas of responsibilities including regulatory requirements
- Complete annual required training courses including Relias
- Other duties as assigned
