Qualifications
Virginia Health Services is hiring a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant at Walter Reed Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, a Long Term Care and Rehab Center located in Gloucester, VA!
Essential Job Duties and Qualifications:
- Assist with Patient Treatment: Implement and assist with physical therapy interventions as directed by the supervising physical therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and modalities such as heat, cold, or electrical stimulation.
- Monitor Patient Progress: Track patient progress during therapy sessions, making note of improvements or setbacks and adjusting care plans as needed.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on exercises, home care programs, and safety techniques to improve their rehabilitation outcomes.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment provided, patient progress, and any changes in condition according to facility standards and regulations.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the physical therapist and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal care and support for patients.
- Patient Support: Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and mobility during therapy sessions, ensuring comfort and safety throughout the rehabilitation process.
- Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Ensure proper use and maintenance of therapeutic equipment and keep therapy areas clean and organized.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work well in a team, and the physical ability to assist patients with exercises and mobility tasks.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift and move patients, as well as stand or walk for extended periods.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to lift and move patients as needed.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
