Job Description
Purpose & Scope :
The Foundation President and VHC Health System Senior Vice President of the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation will have the responsibility to directing all operations of the Virginia Hospital Center Foundation, the fundraising arm of the Virginia Hospital Center Health System. They will serve also as President of the Foundation as well as a member of the Hospital's executive team. The President of the Foundation will report to the President & CEO of the Health System and work closely with the Foundation's Board of Directors to meet the Hospital's overall strategic objectives and to ensure that all communications accurately reflect Virginia Hospital Center's mission and vision.
The President of the Foundation should have experience leading a multi-million, comprehensive fundraising program, preferably for a hospital. The President of the Foundation is responsible for planning and managing all aspects of fundraising activities including fostering relationships that will include a mix of major gifts, legacy gifts foundation grants, corporate giving, events and online, grassroots appeals. S / he will have significant experience in cultivating and soliciting major gift prospects for gifts of $1 million or more, engaging and managing high level volunteers, and leading the Foundation staff. It is crucial that the successful candidate for the position demonstrate natural leadership skills for effective management of a busy, high-level Board of Directors while maintaining positive working relationships.
In addition, the Foundation is poised to launch a major capital campaign in support of the Health System's planned expansion. The ideal candidate will possess experience in implementing a campaign plan, recruiting volunteer leaders, representing the Health System to leadership donors, and ensuring that campaign operations are fully integrated with on-going fundraising operations.
Education :
Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is required.
Experience :
10 Fundraising Required; and
Demonstrated Leadership Ability Required.
