The Employer Relations and Work-Based Learning Specialist will develop regular internships, micro-internships, and job shadowing experiences for students, using existing employer contacts and new connections. This role will facilitate communication between employers and faculty members in academic departments, sharing relevant job, internship, and apprenticeship information. The Employer Relations and Work-Based Learning Specialist will collaborate with and seek input from department chairs, faculty, advisory boards, and Foundation Office staff, in addition to strengthening and building new relationships with employer partners.
The Employer Relations and Work-Based Learning Specialist will use appropriate technology to track work-based learning experiences and will assess these experiences along with student outcomes. This role will also work to connect students to employers through job boards (online and on campus) and tabling events. Cross-training with CCWA Career Coaches will also be part of this position.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills. Strong sense of initiative, focus on student success, and work ethic. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and familiarity with virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams). Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel to community locations within the service region.
Additional Considerations
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Master’s degree in field relevant to job responsibilities preferred. Ability to develop relationships with for-profit and non-profit organizations preferred. Knowledge of work-based learning practices and principles, and current employment trends preferred.
