Eastern Shore Community College is a member of the Virginia Community College System. The College serves the residents of Accomack County and Northampton County as a two-year institution of higher learning. Operating under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Eastern Shore Community College Board, the college is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the two counties and the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation.
This part-time position will provide technical assistance in all functional areas of human resource management.
The Human Resource Generalist reporting to the Vice President for Administration, provides functional support to the faculty and staff of the College in the areas of talent acquisition, on-boarding, and assistance with the agency’s completion of human resource related activities, maintaining records, special projects and other HR initiatives.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Intermediate skills with PC-based software including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
- Ability to collect, assemble, process, and file information using manual and automated systems
- Experience with technology such as HR information systems, applicant tracking systems, on-boarding systems and other database management tools.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work to meet established deadlines while giving attention to detail.
- Knowledge of HR practices with the ability to interpret and communicate policies and procedures to a diverse constituent.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Experience working in a Human Resources office
- Familiarity with federal and state employment laws.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification
