Accountant
Location: Virginia Transformer – Roanoke, VA
Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions and reporting, including invoicing, expense tracking, and compliance. This role supports operations by ensuring accurate financial records, timely billing, and cost analysis to optimize overall business performance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Process and track all financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Review and approve invoices, verifying accuracy and consistency with contract terms.
- Reconcile accounts, ensuring timely revenue recognition and accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
Billing & Revenue Management
- Generate and review invoices, ensuring timely submission to customers.
- Coordinate with internal teams to track work completed and ensure appropriate billing.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices.
Expense Tracking & Cost Analysis
- Monitor and analyze costs, including labor, travel, and material expenses.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs to appropriate jobs and projects.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to improve financial efficiency.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
- Prepare reports on financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, contracts, and company financial policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and analysis.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with managers, technical teams, and customers to ensure financial clarity and support.
- Coordinate with procurement, supply chain, and finance teams for accurate cost tracking.
- Provide financial guidance and training on expense management and invoicing procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience: 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of tax regulations and revenue recognition principles.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
