Responsibilities
- Act as a clinical expert and resource for nurses and other healthcare professionals in the critical care units, promoting evidence-based practice and best practices in patient care.
- Facilitate a multi-disciplinary and collaborative approach to healthcare delivery, ensuring effective communication and coordination among team members.
- Promote excellence in nursing care through the implementation of clinical standards of practice and establishing competency standards for staff members.
- Develop and implement educational programs and initiatives to enhance the knowledge and skills of nursing staff.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research projects to advance the care of critically ill patients.
- Advocate for patient safety and quality care within the critical care units and throughout the hospital.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in critical care nursing and promote a culture of continuous learning.
- Education:
- Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Or
- Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the CCNE or NLNAC.
- Experience: 3 years of Registered Nursing experience in a critical care setting.
- Licensure: Alaska Registered Nurse License upon hire.
- Certifications:
- BLS - American Heart Association certification upon hire.
- Current certification as a CNS; certification in the area of specialty is preferred upon hire.
- Current certification in the area of specialty (e.g., CCRN) upon hire.
- Work at a leading Level II Trauma Center with a wide range of specialized services.
