Role Responsibilities
As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, you will be a key provider focused on improving the health and well-being of children in the community. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing full-spectrum primary healthcare services to pediatric patients, including health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of common acute and chronic conditions.
- Conducting comprehensive health histories and performing thorough physical examinations, interpreting findings accurately.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practice and in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribing appropriate medications and therapies, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and performing minor procedures as credentialed.
- Providing patient and family education on health maintenance, chronic disease management, child development, and preventive care strategies.
- Maintaining timely, thorough, and accurate clinical documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Coordinating patient care effectively with team members, other departments, and community agencies/providers as necessary.
- Participating actively in quality improvement initiatives and complying with all organizational quality measures.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, specializing in Pediatrics (Required).
- License/Registration: Valid State of Connecticut APRN license (Required); Eligibility for DEA and Connecticut Controlled Substance registration (Required).
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in a pediatric setting (Preferred); New Graduates Encouraged to Apply.
- Skills: Deep knowledge of pediatric NP theory and practice; Proven ability providing high-quality primary care; Cultural competence and ability to work effectively with diverse populations; Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills; Strong history taking, assessment, and interpretation skills; Timely/accurate documentation abilities; Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and other computer systems; Ability to make sound, evidence-based clinical decisions; Ability to coordinate care effectively (Required).
- Language: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (Preferred).
- All candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
