RN First Assistant - Operating Room

Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking an experienced RN First Assistant (RNFA) - Operating Room to join our partner, a general acute care medical center in San Pedro, CA. This role offers the opportunity to assist in a variety of surgical procedures while working alongside a skilled surgical team. Full-time and part-time schedule options may be available, with 8-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct assistance to surgeons during procedures including orthopedic, gynecology, robotics, general, plastics, podiatry, bariatrics, and urology.
• Assist with emergency OB/GYN C-sections as needed.
• Ensure optimal patient safety and surgical outcomes by anticipating intraoperative needs.
• Uphold sterile technique and best practices in the operating room.
• Work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited RNFA course.
• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License upon hire.
• National Provider BLS Certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in a surgical setting.
• Recent clinical experience in the operating room.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotic-assisted surgical procedures.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
