Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to lead the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at our partner hospital in Palm Springs, CA. This is a key leadership role that requires a passion for neonatal care, a strong clinical background, and proven management skills.
Responsibilities
- Overall Management: Provide comprehensive leadership and oversight of the NICU's 24/7 operations, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal resource utilization, and adherence to all regulatory standards.
- Patient Care Excellence: Champion a family-centered approach, fostering a culture of compassion, safety, and continuous quality improvement within the NICU.
- Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a highly skilled and motivated team of nurses and support staff. Provide ongoing training, performance evaluations, and opportunities for professional growth.
- Clinical Expertise: Maintain a strong clinical knowledge base and stay abreast of the latest advancements in neonatal care practices and technologies. Ensure the NICU team is equipped with the necessary skills to provide top-notch care.
- Resource Management: Effectively manage the department's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource allocation. Optimize staffing levels to meet patient needs and ensure efficient operations.
- Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care and organizational success. Act as a liaison between the NICU and other areas of the hospital.
- Performance Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and family satisfaction. Monitor key performance indicators and implement evidence-based practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Required:
- Active California RN License
- BSN (in progress considered with a definitive completion date)
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times)
- Current NRP certification (maintain current at all times)
- Certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing from the NCC or other nationally accredited organization (in progress considered with a definitive completion date)
- 5 years of NICU experience, including 3 years of full-time NICU clinical experience
- Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills
- Preferred:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- NRP Instructor Certification
- Critical Care Transport Experience
