Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Practitioner/Consultant: Provide expert consultation to nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers on complex patient care issues within the emergency department specialty. Model advanced clinical practice.
- Educator: Lead the development and implementation of educational programs for nursing staff, focusing on evidence-based practices, new procedures/technologies, specialty certification, and professional development within emergency nursing.
- Leader: Drive improvements in patient care delivery within the ED. Lead the development of nursing practice standards and protocols aligned with national guidelines and regulatory requirements. Collaborate system-wide with nursing leadership, service lines, and patient care departments.
- Researcher: Utilize outcomes from nursing and healthcare research to guide practice changes. Promote a spirit of clinical inquiry and support research activities within the department.
- Education: Master's Degree from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) program (Required).
- Licenses: Current Oregon RN license AND Oregon CNS license (Required upon hire).
- Certifications: Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in relevant specialty area (Required upon hire); Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CCRN) (Required upon hire); BLS from American Heart Association (Required upon hire).
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of RN experience in the Emergency Department specialty (Required); 2 years of CNS experience (Preferred); 2 years experience teaching adult learners (Preferred).
