Job Description:
The Cloud Platform Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Kafka-based event streaming and messaging solutions on the Confluent Cloud platform. This role requires hands-on expertise in Confluent Kafka, KSQL DB, Schema Registry, and Kafka connectors, with the ability to lead technical implementation and maintain Kafka standards and best practices. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Kafka into applications and data pipelines, support upgrades, and ensure high reliability across on-prem and cloud environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of Kafka-based streaming and messaging solutions across on-prem and Confluent Cloud platforms.
- Manage Kafka Brokers, Schema Registry, and Kafka connectors, ensuring best practices and consistency in Kafka administration.
- Establish guidelines, procedures, and standards for Kafka administration and support development teams in Kafka usage.
- Coordinate and support upgrades/maintenance for the Confluent Kafka platform, ensuring smooth transitions to the latest releases.
- Collaborate with development teams, product managers, and operations teams to integrate Kafka into data pipelines and applications.
- Adhere to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and adapt to new developments within the Kafka ecosystem.
- Provide weekend support as needed for Production Changes and major Incident Escalations.
Must-Have Skills:
- Confluent Event Streaming Platform (Confluent Kafka/Confluent Cloud): Minimum 3 years of experience with hands-on expertise.
- KSQL DB: Proficiency in implementing and managing KSQL DB queries and workflows.
- Schema Registry and Kafka Connectors: Experience in setting up and maintaining Schema Registry and Kafka connectors for seamless data integration.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Knowledge of SRE principles, with the ability to troubleshoot and adapt to Kafka system developments.
Additional Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
- Work Authorization: Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
- Travel & Expenses: Not covered by the client.
- Experience Level: 6 years in cloud platform engineering roles.
