Fast growing Northridge, CA based AS9100 Certified Aerospace Defense Company/Machine Shop is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, mechanically inclined, and consistent person to join our team as a Mechanical Assembler Trainee. This is an entry level position with the opportunity for career growth!
We are a manufacturer of complex machined components in the Defense/Aerospace industries and have been in business for over forty-five years. The qualified candidate should have previous experience/success working with hand tools and the ability to learn and perform various Mechanical Assembly functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Train to perform a range of routine mechanical assembly of small parts or components in accordance with company instructions and procedures
- Package and ship parts
- Position and align parts, using fixtures, jigs and templates.
- Measure dimensions/clearance of parts to determine tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and veneers.
- Test for mechanical reliability
- Inspect, test, and adjust completed unit to ensure that unit meets specifications, tolerances and customer order requirements
- Bond or seal parts or assemblies with epoxies using direct heating elements and perform a variety of in-process testing
- Install helicoils, screws, keenserts, and various mechanical hardware.
- Review shop traveler route card, or uncomplicated schematic drawings to confirm correct sequence of operation
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
- Prior experience in Aerospace, Defense preferred
- Previous experience in an assembly production environment desired
- Have the ability to use manual fine motor skills or similar hands-on work
- Experience in manufacturing assembly related work proffered
- Trade skills training or manufacturing experience
- Experience with mechanical hand tools preferred
Other Desirable skills:
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
