POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for scheduling surgeries for the doctors, counseling the patient, verifying insurance on surgery patients, preparing surgery charts and posting surgeries with the various facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
Schedules surgeries in the office, over the phone or at satellite locations
Counsels the patient on all outpatient surgical instructions
Obtains signature from patient on Informed Consents and Post-Operative Release forms
Verifies insurance benefits on surgery patients and determines if precertification is needed
Sets up the post op appointments with referring doctors offices or SEES doctors
Posts surgeries with the facility
Prepares surgery chart for each doctor, including pre-certifying surgery; getting the post op report from the referring doctor; typing discharge letter and sending to referring doctors; getting instructions, calendar and eye drops together for patients post-surgery.
Enters surgery appointments and post op appointments in the scheduling system
Transmits surgical notes to referring or consulting doctors
Travels to satellite locations
Maintains knowledge of and follows policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and all Federal and state rules and regulations related to the position.
Attends all required trainings and office meetings.

preferred; and/or equivalent education or experience in job related activities is required.
