Title: Credit Analyst II

Job Summary:

The Credit Analyst II will review the creditworthiness of individuals or businesses to determine the risk involved in lending money or extending credit, operating within the department to handle higher level requests and/or more detailed or complicated reviews.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes credit data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit.
  • Perform financial statement spreading and analysis on new and existing loan relationships to determine creditworthiness of borrowers by evaluating cash flow and debt serviceability.
  • Analyzes factors such as income growth, margins, trends, quality of management, market shares, potential risks of industry and collateral appraisals.
  • Prepares credit memos that are clear, concise and complete, and submits credit approval documents and write-ups to appropriate personnel for decision making.
  • Review the work of Credit Analyst I personnel
  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.
  • Perform loan relationship reviews to monitor compliance with loan agreements and evaluate ongoing credit worthiness as well as ensure ongoing compliance with bank, state and federal regulations; as well as assess risk rating of loans.
  • Assist lending officers in clearing exceptions
  • Works on large, complex relationships with minimal supervision or assistance.
  • Make recommendations to senior management regarding improvements to bank procedures and processes.
  • May directly supervise Credit Analysts. Must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws and ensure direct reports have completed required compliance training and are adhering to all internal procedures and controls as it relates to bank policy, laws, and regulations. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to training, planning, assigning, and directing work assignments and schedules, as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as analysis software.
  • Basic understanding of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies used in credit analysis.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and problems.
  • Critical thinking skills to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems, sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to work on multiple transactions simultaneously and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and deal with an assortment of variables.
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field is required.
  • At least 2 years of work-related experience and/or training preferred.
