What are the responsibilities and job description for the Contact Lens Specialist position at Vision Center South?
The Contact Lens Specialist provides assistance to the Optometrist in providing care to the patient by instructing new contact lens wearers on how to insert and remove contact lenses. The Contact Lens Specialist creates and fits customized contact lenses and recommends a contact lens solution that provides comfort, stability, and clarity to the patient's needs.
Primary duties:
- Enter/chart notes into the patient record, providing needed documentation for the Optometrist.
- Order and receive contact lenses for patients.
- Keep an up-to-date inventory of contact lenses, contact lens solution, etc.
- Prepare exam rooms for the Optometrist to perform exams on patients.
- Perform doctor requested testing: VA’s, IOP, Color Vision, Visual Field Testing, Fundus camera, OCT.
- Provide instruction and training for contact lens insertion and removal to the patient.
- Measure and polish gas permeable lenses.
Secondary Duties:
- Understand insurance coverages to submit claims to different carriers.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Ideal candidate should have High school diploma/GED.
- 1 -2 years Optical experience is a plus.

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
