As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting our optometrists in providing excellent eye care services to our patients. Your responsibilities will include conducting preliminary eye exams, performing diagnostic tests, and ensuring the smooth flow of patients through the clinic.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Preliminary Eye Exams:
- Greet and prepare patients for eye examinations.
- Conduct preliminary tests, such as measuring visual acuity, depth perception, and eye pressure.
- Record patient medical history and relevant information.
Diagnostic Testing:
- Perform various diagnostic tests, including visual field testing, retinal imaging, and auto-refraction.
- Assist in contact lens fittings and instruct patients on proper lens care.
Instrument Maintenance:
- Ensure all optometric equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
- Clean and sterilize instruments after each use.
Patient Assistance:
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices, contact lens usage, and frame selection.
- Answer patient questions and address concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Documentation:
- Accurately record and maintain patient records and test results.
- Prepare and organize patient charts for optometrists.
Appointment Scheduling:
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments and managing the flow of patients through the clinic.
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure efficient patient care.
Team Collaboration:
· Work closely with optometrists and support staff to ensure a seamless patient experience and maintain an organized workflow.
· Will be cross trained in optician and front desk duties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires standing, sitting, driving, and walking for prolonged periods of time.
- Occasionally lift and carry items up to twenty-five pounds.
- Able to remain calm and professional regardless of workload or time constraints.
- Proficient in use of English language both in written and verbal communication.
- Must be able to keep electronic information organized and utilize effective time management skills.
- Requires frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Colorado driver’s license and access to reliable transportation during work hours.
- Current automobile insurance.
- Spanish language skills preferred.
- Previous experience as a technician in eyecare a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Professional and friendly demeanor with a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in a fast-paced environment.
SALARY RANGE
- $17.00-$22.00 Hourly
