Logistics Compliance Coordinator
Summary:
Responsible for coordinating compliance within various areas of the business. This includes preparing documentation necessary for customs clearance, trade agreements, and customer requirements, such as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), Country of Origin (COO), American Automotive Labelling Act (AALA), and any other relevant agreements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complete government documentation by compliance regulations, including proof of export and import documents, such as entry summaries, commercial invoices, packing lists, and ISF data sheets.
- Assist in completing and declaring tooling as notified by the Purchasing and Sales Departments for Customs.
- Prepare customer requirements such as USMCA, COO, AALA, and CAFE for submission to the appropriate customer portals.
- Maintain Certification for the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT).
- Research trade agreements and customs requirements to ensure compliance.
- Manage PSC, protests, prior disclosures, EEI audits, and reconciliations.
- Ensure that shipments comply with Export Control Regulations.
- Conduct research on US import and export regulations as necessary.
- Supplier Management: Obtain COO certificates, AALA documentation, and HTS classifications from all vendors on an annual basis or as new requirements arise throughout the year.
- HTS Coding: Determine the HTS coding for new materials and part numbers.
- Maintain the accuracy of HTS coding and COO in the ERP system.
- Management Support: Prepare monthly management reports as required.
- Conduct freight studies for budget and planning purposes.
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for brokers.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in international transportation and documentation requirements.
- Knowledge of US Customs compliance regulations.
- Ability to arrange and prepare paperwork necessary for customs clearance.
- Proficient in tracking shipments and communicating with coordinating companies.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and deadline-driven.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) across all internal levels and global company sites, with fluency in Japanese considered a plus.
- Attend customs-related training classes as deemed necessary for the position.
- Some business travel may be required.
- Ability to occasionally move within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Ability to occasionally lift to 40 pounds.
- Ability to sit for extended periods during the workday.
