What are the responsibilities and job description for the SHOP STEWARD position at Visionary Automotive Group?
The Shop Steward is responsible for maintaining the shop cleanliness, maintenance and inspections. The Shop Steward assists the Service Technicians with all Service personnel and management to ensure the satisfaction of our customers.
The Shop Steward is supervised by the Shop Foreman.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Maintain shop cleanliness.
- Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements.
- Assist technicians as needed to road-test vehicles to ensure quality control.
- Assist parts delivery to technicians and warranty parts returns are done in a timely and accurate manner.
- Organize and maintain shop special tools and equipment.
- Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner.
- Removal of used tires, scrap metals, and used batteries from the shop to the proper recycling areas.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly routine maintenance on shop equipment (i.e. floor scrubber machine etc.).
- Perform monthly inspections of safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, eye wash stations etc.) and vehicle hoists.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Constructively communicate with other dealership personnel as required to satisfy customer needs.
- Report to management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership, its personnel, or customers.
- Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies. Belts worn on trousers to be of no buckle design to avoid scratching paint on customer's vehicles.
- Arrive at work, take breaks, and depart work at the times designated by management.
- Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
- Ensure that work areas and customer waiting areas are kept clean.
