Position Title: Lead Material Handler

Reports to: Fabrication Supervisor
Character of Position
Under the supervision of the department supervisor, the lead fabrication department-material handler is responsible for the daily direction of the team and to ensure that , making sure that every area of shipping, optimizer/saw area and kitting have the resources needed to complete the daily tasks. Still responsible for various manual tasks such as the movement and management of materials within the department the lead material handler assures that all new hires are trained and seasoned employees are cross trained to assist when needed. They must have stamina, the ability to lift heavy loads, be able to concentrate on performing tasks and commit to safety rules.
Responsibilities
- Work with, lead and train less seasoned material handlers.
- Direct and give guidance to material handlers to ensure workflow is moving.
- Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials
- Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies
- Assist with kitting products to build
- Document product/material movement
- Assist, as required, in the movement of materials or equipment within facility.
- Handle, gather, and transport materials and equipment
- Operates forklifts, pallet jacks and other machinery to move items
- Ensure that all of the assigned activities are completed as scheduled.
- Clean-up work areas from hazardous or obsolete material
- Raise general maintenance issues to the supervisor as problems arise.
- Follow and maintain all safety protocols and housekeeping requirements
- Follow OSHA safety guidelines, and ITAR compliance
- All other duties as assigned

- Material handling experience necessary.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Standing for long periods of time, lifting loads up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting.

- Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines
Experience
- Previous stock or inventory experience a plus
- Forklift experience preferred
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
